Cosmetic Surgery
Our clinic offers mole removal both for cosmetic (elective) reasons and for medically indicated reasons. The mole is first assessed under a dermatoscope to exclude features of malignancy before narrow margin excision excision is performed to give a smallest possible scar. Moles are also meticulously excised along the natural skin tension lines to give the best cosmetic result. Some dome shapped moles that are very benign can be gently shaved off under local anaesthesia followed by electrocautery to stop the pin-point bleeding. In this case, no stitching is necessary and the resulting scar is usually flat and has the size of the base of the mole.
